- What are Bio Identical Hormones?
- Bio-identical hormones are identical in molecular structure to the hormones made in human bodies when compared to synthetic hormones. Bio Identical estrogens are comprised of estradiol, estrone, and estriol. Synthetic estrogens (eg Premarin) are very different from the estrogen that your body naturally makes and, therefore, has considerable and dangerous side effects. Bio Identical estrogen have been proven to be much safer. Bio Identical progesterone similarly is identical to the progesterone that your body makes. The synthetic "Progestins" are very different anf also have many, dangerous, side effects. Bio Identical hormones' physiological response is the same as hormones produced in our bodies.

- How long do I have to receive Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)?
- The answer to this question is as unique as our patients. It all depends on your age, hormone levels, health and conditions of your glands and your body's response to the treatment. In some cases our treatment not only restores your hormonal balance at an optimal level, it can also 'jump start' your endocrine system to function effectively on its own. Some of our patients can take a break from their treatment regimen to see if their body has regained its ability to replenish and restore optimal hormone and vitamin levels. In this case, they could safely discontinue our regimen. Most of the time, however, the hormone issues are permanent and full benefit can only be obtained with continuing use of hormone replacement.
- I am a busy professional, how many times do I have to see the doctor during the treatment?
- After the first consultation, that can last up to 2 1/2 hours, our dedicated team provides continuous support for all hormones, prescriptions, vitamins, supplements and your quarterly blood follow up. You are required to visit our office approximately once every 6 months for a follow up (out of town patients need follow-up in office only once a year). However, if you would like to see us to review your progress or any follow up questions or symptoms or follow up regarding any other concerns, you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment with no additional cost to you.
- The design and structure of our treatment is a worry free approach to patients, where you focus on enjoying the positive outcomes while following our guidelines and regimen and we take care of the rest to make it happen.
- How would I know if I am taking the correct dose?
- We continuously monitor your progress and keep a constant flow of communication and follow up (sometimes weekly in the important first few weeks of therapy and then at least monthly thereafter). This gives us the basis to provide ongoing support and guidance to you throughout the program.
- What if I have a question regarding my treatment? What is the response time for a question or concern?
- We take PRIDE in communicating with our patients. During business hours, our response time is usually less than an hour. After business hours, we normally respond within 24 hours.
- How long do I have to be in the program before I can see improvements in my symptoms?
- This question depends on your age, gender, severity of aging and hormone deficiency symptoms, your dedication to our programs, diet and exercise. Some symptoms can be helped immediately (eg hot flushes). In most cases, however, our patients start to experience a positive response from the treatment in 2-4 weeks, but it can take 4-6 months to reach your optimal hormone levels and performance in all areas.
